If you know me, you know I’ve been a sucker for superheroes my whole life, obviously the DC characters are among them. And it was really a dream come true for me when DeeDee Animation Studio got the collaboration with PHL Collective to work on the cinematic cut scenes for this game Justice League: Cosmic Chaos. It was like a perfect DC project for us to work on as it has this adorable “chibi” design sense, which I myself once did a series of fan animation with, and the zany animation style you might see in Looney Tunes.
For this project, I got to redesigns the 3D models from PHL into 2D animation friendly designs, I also did the storyboards for all of the cinematic cut scenes in the game, and the 2D animation to final sequences were finished by our amazing team of animators, background designers, and compositors at DeeDee. We got to push ourselves to achieve a higher level of wacky cartoon-ish style of animation, and we had a lot of fun working on this. I especially had a wonderful time coming up with all kinds of shenanigans for Mxyzptlk throughout the games.
