The real Sherlock

I’ve been catching up with the online challenge Sketch_dailies on facebook and twitter where they give you a daily topic to draw, and I’m enjoying it so much. This one is of course, for the topic Sherlock Holmes. I’ve always been a fan of Sherlock Holmes ever since I was a kid, so naturally I want to give my own spin on the character.

Holding Hands

Final for Intro to Anatomy – 2 nude poses, one front and one back in the same drawing. I used 2 reference photos from http://figuresfordrawing.tumblr.com/ (NSFW) and put them together, and that’s a happy accident that they seem to be holding hands.

This was done on 11×14 paper with graphite pencils, and the teacher kept it for reference. It was kinda big for my scanner so the image quality is not very good here.

This album contains in total of 8 anatomical drawing charts for the parts that affect directly to drawing a realistic figure drawing. Done with pencil on 8.5×11 papers, and are assignments that I did for my Intro to Anatomy class that I took in Fall 2013 at the Academy of Art University. All references I used to draw these are cited in the cover page.

You can get ALL THE HIGH RESOLUTION FILES for these drawings for free following this link to my facebook page www.facebook.com/media/set/?se… and use these drawings for reference or share it to your walls or websites with only one condition is to link back to my page here www.facebook.com/hahuyhoang.ar… or include my name, and don’t try to erase my name in each drawing. I hope this will be a great source for all of you to study.

50 years in Space and Time

I’ve been drawing a collection of caricatures of all 12 Doctors from Doctor Who, including Peter Capaldi, who will be replacing Matt Smith this Christmas. This was done for the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, the longest running sci-fi TV Show of all time. I got my ticket and am planning to go to the 3-D screening in theatre for the 50th anniversary episode this Saturday – Nov 23rd, exactly 50 years after the very first episode aired on BBC with William Hartnell.

I started watching Doctor Who the new series last year – 2012, and became obsessed by it because of the wonderful, beautiful, creative, and emotional stories that the show brings. To me watching DW is like watching every single genre of films ever, from comedy to sci-fi, from romance to horror, from fantasy to detective, from film noir to art house… everything. Every episode feels like a super good feature film, and they all crossover in incredible bigger story arcs that will blow your mind every time. It’s not about The Doctor himself, it’s not about all the gimmick of CGI, it’s not even about how hot The Doctor or the companions are. It’s all about good stories, and inventive ideas. Now I have seen many TV series, but Doctor Who is hands down the best of all.

Happy Birthday, Doctor Who.

Inktober

All of my #inktober entries in one image. It was a fun and challenging experience for me since ink is really not a tool that I’m confident of using. But through this challenge, I did a lot of experiments, both in using brush pen, markers, new tools, and in opening up the fields of content that I don’t usually do. Follow me on facebook to keep up with more casual works that I do and post everyday –> www.facebook.com/hahuyhoang.art

Brave

Someone suggested me to draw a Brave fan art the other day. And I did it. I rarely draw any Pixar/Disney’s fan art since they have perfect designs for the characters already, any attempt at recreating those marvels into my own style is not worth it. But then again, drawing is fun.

SONTINH-1 Upgraded

Still SONTINH-1, the anti-Kaiju Jaeger from Vietnam (inspired by Pacific Rim), but this time with some slight updates on the outside (some more yellow plates), and this time the background is Sai Gon with Bitexco Financial tower from afar.
